چکیده
We collected acute-phase serum samples from febrile patients at 2 major hospitals in Dhaka, Bangladesh, during an outbreak of dengue fever in 2001. A total of 18% of dengue-negative patients tested positive for leptospirosis. The case-fatality rate among leptospirosis patients (5%) was higher than among dengue fever patients (1.2%).

Fatal leptospirosis and chikungunya co-infection: Do not forget leptospirosis during chikungunya outbreaks
In endemic areas, leptospirosis can be missed by erroneous clinical or laboratory diagnosis of arboviroses or co-infections with arboviruses and an increase in mortality due to leptospirosis has already been reported during arboviruses outbreaks. During the French Polynesian chikungunya virus outbreak in 2014-2015, two leptospirosis and chikungunya co-infections were reported, one of which was ...
متن کاملFirst Outbreak of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Bangladesh
During the first countrywide outbreak of dengue hemorrhagic fever in Bangladesh, we conducted surveillance for dengue at a hospital in Dhaka. Of 176 patients, primarily adults, found positive for dengue, 60.2% had dengue fever, 39.2% dengue hemorrhagic fever, and 0.6% dengue shock syndrome. The Dengue virus 3 serotype was detected in eight patients.
متن کاملRecognition of leptospirosis in dengue-suspected cases during dengue outbreak in Ceará State, Brazil
Dengue fever frequently presents with non specific symptoms, making it difficult to be distinguished from other acute febrile illnesses, including leptospirosis. Given this, serum samples from 82 patients with clinical features of dengue-like illness were evaluated for dengue infection by IgM-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)....

متن کاملPredominance of the DEN-3 genotype during the recent dengue outbreak in Bangladesh.
A recent outbreak of dengue in Bangladesh was marked by many fatal complications. As clinical virulence varies among the genotypes of dengue virus, a study was conducted to investigate the molecular genotypes of dengue in Bangladesh. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to determine viral genotypes using oligonucleotide generic primers that produce a 511 bp product. The resu...
